Design, Color, and More: A Sign Blog

Businesses need signs from before they open until the day they close. At the beginning, you may need signs that advertise your business location such as arrows or lit up signs with your logo and store name. While owning your store, you may want signs that tell customers how to behave such as "don't bring ice cream into the shop" or "no shirt, no shoes, no service". You may want signs for special sales or for unique products, and you may even need signs for off-site marketing events such as trade shows. Then, at the end, you may need a sign that says "going out of business". Regardless of where you are in your business journey, this blog is designed to help you choose the best signs for your business.

3 Features To Look For In A Quality LED Exterior Sign

There are all kinds of reasons why the average business sign has taken strides into the 21st century with animated lighting. LED lighted exterior signs attract attention even in gloomy weather, they are easy to see from miles away, and make it possible for business owners to adjust their sign's message at any given moment. However, just as it is with any other business fixture, there are high-quality LED automated signs and low-quality signs. How do you know the difference between the two? Here is a look at three of the features you should be looking for in a high-quality LED exterior sign.

Quality Protective Casing

Because LED signs are electronic, the sign itself must be protected from the elements, which usually means the sign board itself is protected with an encasement. Unfortunately, some of the lower-quality LED sign models have an encasement that is made from basic plexiglass. This material will ward off moisture, but it will also scratch, fog up, and get a cloudy look, after several years out in the weather. Instead, look for signs that have a hard acrylic encasement that can withstand the regular exposure to wind and rain, without getting scuffed and scarred.

Replaceable Light Bulbs

Lose one light bulb in your LED automated sign, and one small word can look like something else, or an image can become completely distorted. It can be costly to replace a whole panel of LED light bulbs in an automated sign, so make sure the sign you pick for your business allows you to replace individual bulbs as needed. Most LED signs will have bulbs inside that you can easily obtain by going to the sign manufacturer, and this should be a straightforward process, when the time comes that you need replacements. So make sure the manufacturer has replacement bulbs available, when you look into ordering a sign from them.

Extended Service Plans

When you come across a good LED automated sign from a quality manufacturer, you will know it because your investment in the sign will almost always come with an extended service plan or warranty. This means that if something goes wrong with your sign right after you buy it, the costs for replacement and repairs will be covered. Just about every LED sign will come with some type of warranty, but the longest warranty coverages are reserved for those signs that have the highest quality components and are made with confidence.
